The Directorate of International Agricultural Training Center was established with unification and restructuring of three separate institution providing training intended for Rural People and international stakeholders for different subjects and purposes. When all past reorganization and reform processes of the Training Center are considered with holistic view, it has been seen that over half-century of training experience have been gained and history of “former training bodies” contributing to current structure of the Center goes back to 1962. The scope of the work defined by the governing regulation of our organization, abbreviated as “UTEM”, is determined as the effective use of natural resources at national and international level, improvement of plant and animal production, increasing the effectiveness of agricultural and rural holdings, extending information technologies over agricultural sector, institutional development and better human resource management. Within the perspective of this defined sphere of activity, UTEM’s work scope is geographically divided into two categories as National and International. As mentioned above, Training Center is responsible for organizing international training and cooperation activities. These tasks primarily include carrying out training activities within the framework of mutual cooperation with national and international organizations on concerned domains and development of joint projects to ensure transfer of experiences and technologies. Structuring technical research and examination, conducting impact assessment and organizing events at international level are among other embraced activities. Making all kinds of training activities visible in careers of participants is among issues that the UTEM attaches importance. For this purpose, trainees participating in the training programs are awarded with certificates of participation or other available type of written proofs according to structure of the programs. The Directorate, obtaining almost all of its financing needs from public sources, has the status of “non-profit public body” according to international definitions made
in this manner. The administrative structure of the Directorate in accordance with the management directive consists of the Director, Assistant Manager and 5 different service units. By grouping services carried out in the UTEM, 5 working groups have been formed under the names of Training Services Unit, International Relations Unit, Information Technologies Unit, Administrative and Financial Affairs Unit, Organization and Social Facilities Unit. The Training Center located in Ankara has the necessary physical and technical infrastructure and human resources to carry out a qualified training activity. The UTEM, surrounded with several crucial research institutions on an agricultural campus, holds a reasonable number of facilities such as guesthouse, training rooms, computer labs, conference and workshop halls, restaurant, cafes, etc.
